GoodWe GW10K-MS-G40 10 kW Single-Phase Solar Inverter 3 MPPT

The GoodWe GW10K-MS-G40 single-phase solar inverter is a 10 kW string inverter belonging to the fourth generation of the MS G4 series. Specially designed for residential photovoltaic installations, it incorporates 3 independent MPPT trackers that provide great flexibility for distributing panels across different orientations, tilts, or areas with varying irradiance conditions.

10 kW single-phase inverter with 3 MPPTs

The GoodWe GW10K-MS-G40 delivers a rated output power of 10,000 W and is designed for single-phase 220, 230, or 240 V grids. Its main advantage over inverters with one or two maximum power point trackers is the inclusion of 3 independent MPPTs, each capable of handling one PV string.

This configuration makes it easier to design installations with complex roofs, different module orientations, or areas with partial shading, since each group of panels connected to an MPPT can operate independently to find its own maximum power point.

20 A input per MPPT for high-power modules

Each of the three MPPTs supports a maximum input current of 20 A and a maximum short-circuit current of 26 A. These characteristics make it possible to work with high-current photovoltaic modules and offer greater flexibility when selecting panels.

The inverter supports a maximum input voltage of 600 V, while the MPPT operating range is between 40 and 560 V. The start-up voltage is only 50 V and the nominal input voltage is 360 V.

PV oversizing of up to 200%

GoodWe states that the MS G4 series allows PV oversizing of up to 200%. This makes it possible to install a higher module power than the inverter’s rated output power when the design and electrical conditions of the PV array allow it.

Combined with the low start-up voltage and the three independent MPPTs, this design margin is intended to maximize photovoltaic generation throughout the day, including periods of lower irradiance.

Maximum efficiency of 97.9%

The GW10K-MS-G40 achieves a maximum efficiency of 97.9% and a European efficiency of 97.3%. Its maximum active output power is 10,000 W and the maximum apparent power also reaches 10,000 VA.

The maximum output current is 45.5 A. The power factor is approximately 1 and can be adjusted from 0.8 capacitive to 0.8 inductive, while total harmonic distortion remains below 3%.

Integrated AC and DC protections

GoodWe equips the MS G4 series with different systems designed to protect both the inverter and the photovoltaic installation. The GW10K-MS-G40 includes PV reverse polarity protection, insulation resistance monitoring, residual current monitoring, anti-islanding protection, and overcurrent, short-circuit, and AC overvoltage protection.

Optional AFCI 3.0 for arc fault protection

The MS G4 series can optionally include AFCI 3.0 with AI-assisted arc fault detection. This function is designed to identify DC arc situations and interrupt operation when risk conditions are detected.

GoodWe also includes Rapid Shutdown 2.0 with integrated transmitter among the safety solutions available for this inverter generation.

Connectivity and monitoring

The GoodWe GW10K-MS-G40 offers different communication options to facilitate integration and supervision of the photovoltaic installation. The technical datasheet includes RS485, WiFi, LAN, Bluetooth, and 4G interfaces, depending on the accessories and configuration used.

The communication protocol is Modbus RTU compatible with SunSpec. The local interface includes LED indicators and supports an optional LCD screen, as well as WLAN connectivity and app control.

Parallel connection with DNS G4

The MS G4 series is prepared to work in mixed parallel installations with GoodWe DNS G4 inverters using the EzLink3000 communication device. According to GoodWe, this architecture allows systems of up to 10 inverters to be connected without the need for an external datalogger.

This makes it easier both to expand a photovoltaic installation later and to create modular systems when a higher total power output is required.

Quiet operation by natural convection

The GW10K-MS-G40 uses natural convection cooling, avoiding the need for fans during normal cooling operation. GoodWe states a sound emission below 30 dB, a particularly interesting feature for residential installations where the inverter may be located near living areas.

Self-consumption at night is below 1 W and the unit is designed to operate in an ambient temperature range from -25 to +60 °C.

IP66 protection for versatile installation

The inverter has an IP66 protection rating, providing a high level of enclosure protection against dust and water ingress. This expands the possible installation locations, always respecting the conditions, distances, and mounting recommendations established by GoodWe.

It can operate with relative humidity from 0 to 100% and at altitudes of up to 4000 meters above sea level within the conditions specified by the manufacturer.

Compact 16 kg design

The GoodWe GW10K-MS-G40 measures 493 x 365 x 187 mm and weighs 16 kg. Its compact format makes handling and installation easier, especially considering its 10 kW rated power and the inclusion of three MPPT trackers.
